Evan Ramos

Evan Ramos is excited to begin his 2nd year as the Choir Director at Argyle High School and his 17th year teaching! He was previously the Associate Choral Director at Carroll Senior High School, Rowlett High School, Jasper High School, and multiple Plano middle schools.

 

He has a Bachelors in Music Education from the University of North Texas and a Master of Music from Southern Methodist University. Under his leadership, choirs have earned consistent superior and excellent scores at UIL and ICHSA competitions.

A cappella pop music is a passion of Mr. Ramos. He has led and arranged for multiple a cappella ensembles throughout his high school teaching career. One of his highlights was when Remedy made it to the ICHSA Finals in NYC last year, placing third in the nation!

Mr. Ramos is also a published composer and arranger whose works have been performed at colleges, schools, churches and conventions around the world. His pieces, "O Magnum Mysterium", for TTB choir, and “One Light”, for TTB choir won “Best Overall” and “Best in Class” respectively at the 2015 and 2016 TMEA Composition Competition hosted by the College Division. He has music directed, arranged, and orchestrated multiple musicals (including a world premiere and a regional premiere). He has been consistently nominated for "Best Music Direction" and "Best Orchestra" at the Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theatre Awards. Mr. Ramos is a member of TMEA, TCDA, ACDA and ASCAP.

Outside of school, he loves spending time and traveling to cool places with his wife, playing with their three kids, reading, cooking, musical theatre, and messing around on the piano.
